An Expert's Guide to Marrakech

Sophie shares her insights after her own adventure...

Moroccois emerging as the destination of the season. With its popularity continuing to rise, we talk to Sophie, our Senior Product Manager for Europe and North Africa, about what it is that's making a Morocco holiday everyone's top choice for 2025.
Marrakech is Morocco's best-known destination; a vibrant and eclectic city where cultures converge. "The big thing about Morocco, particularly Marrakech, is the access. It's a quick and easy flight to somewhere that feels like a real adventure. It is less than four hours from the UK with regular flights from all over the country, and no time difference to adjust to when you land. Plus, it has range! You've got a huge choice of holidays in Morocco: a short city break, an amazing golf holiday, a cultural adventure or even an easy family holiday."
"I think Morocco has become popular as people have headed to the Canaries for some short-haul winter sun, and now they're looking for something a bit different". Sitting below Spain, Morocco shares a lot of the Mediterranean's most enviable assets, like an ideal climate, particularly in the off seasons, amazing culture and cuisine, and incredible views.

What to Do

Visit the Medina

No trip to Marrakech is complete without a visit to the medina. Lose yourself around the winding walkways through the souks, taking in the colourful spices and handmade goods, and haggling with the local vendors. Jemaa el-Fnaa is the vibrant heart of the city and the best place for people watching.

Ride in a Sidecar

A sidecar tour is a great way to explore the medina and the surrounding area. The local guides who drive you are knowledgeable and provide a fascinating insight into the history and culture of the city. Plus, whizzing around on a sidecar is a really fun way to see the sights - I loved it on my trip!

Drink and Dine

Find a front spot at one of the rooftop bars at Jemaa el-Fnaa for a view over the bustling square. For sundowners, it's recommended to prebook one of the popular rooftop bars for sunset, whether DarDar Rooftop or El Fenn Rooftop Bar. Similarly, you can opt for casual local cuisine at Nomad or iconic Nobu for a memorable meal.
